I have been using the modacity app in the last few months and I quite like it, it forces me to plan my practice, think about what do I want to work on and for how long.
I also quite like the instant record and play back option. I have only been using the free version, which is enough for simple practice routines. I you want to make lots of notes…[Read more]
Congratulations Doug, what a great submission. Your playing has improved so much since the last submission and you played the largo beautifully!
And good on you for sticking with it.
Great start here, some very clear goals and plans moving forward. I found the progress journal very helpful to keep track of my goals and progress (although I do not always stick with all the plans I have). And I’m impressed with your playing and dedication, you are never too old to learn! I look forward to seeing more of your…[Read more]
Congratulations on your submission, the pieces sounded really nice.
And the difference in what you hear when you play and when listen to the recording has a lot to do with your recording set up as well.
Thanks again for taking the time to listen to my submission, I really appreciate it. And after having a quick look at grade 5 I’m sure that taking it slowly will be the only way I could do it, the first unit is only technical exercises, not even a nice piece to escape from the technical exercises. For me the next grade will definitely be a big…[Read more]
Highly recommended, I really enjoyed the summer school in Sydney last year and I just signed up to go again this summer (January). They have an amazing line up of guitarist as staff, including Simon Powis and Ben Verdery.
Anyone else going?
I have submitted my Grade 4 exam so now it is time to look at what I would like to focus on.
I think that grade 5 will need a lot of work and time, I looked it at it and there are like a million of technical exercises before you get to the first piece to play, unit 11 is only exercises!
I had a look at the CAGED system which is very fascinating…[Read more]

Congratulations on your submission, great playing,
Thank you all for your kind and supporting words, my favourite the Bach largo,
Kari, it makes me quite emotional as well when I play it.
And Judy and Kari, your question on the scale length of the guitar, the 630mm is definitely easier to play for me and if it would sound the same as my 660mm Takamine I would prefer on the 630mm.
That sounds beautiful Scott, thanks for sharing the files, I will definitely try it out, the recording from summerschool is amazing.
Martha, what a great find, it was fascinating the read all the symbolics of these pieces.
Grade 4 self-assessment.
I have really enjoyed playing and expanding the pieces I can play. The CGC website and the coaching calls are amazing. Thanks so much Dave and Simon!
Strengths and areas of improvement
After the really helpful feedback on my grade 3 submission I have been working on improving my left hand positions and that has made a…[Read more]
