Such an interesting interview Matt and Roger…thank-you for sharing! I use to wonder how in the world making connections and learning about colleagues would occur through on-line study; but very happily CGC showed me the way with all of these opportunities via podcasts-zoom sessions-forum sharing…so many gifts…speaking of gifts…”Happy 50th Matt!”
This was very nice to listen to!
Loved hearing about Matts career, it was joyful and inspiring!
I remember Matts excellent grade 5 submission, so good!
Nice to hear my dad being mentioned as well 😊
It has been a pleasure to to hear Matt play and progress over the past years. Best wishes for the 50th birthday, thank you both for this wonderful interview, getting to know Matt better has been a joy.
I’ve been a fan of Matt’s playing since I joined CGC, especially the liturgical pieces he records. It was nice to get to know more about him. I’m glad he didn’t have to take a vow of silence!
Another fascinating podcast, Roger. Matt is a delight, with a great sense of humor. I’m sorry that I joined the DC Corner group too late to get to know him.
Thanks for the kind words and birthday wishes. I’ve still got about two months left in my forties, but I appreciate the help to extend the celebration of the milestone! It was great to get to chat with Roger and through him with the larger CGC community. You all make this place special. I’ll be looking forward to hearing more stories of fellow members in episodes to come.
Matt
Excellent interview! Matt, you life story certainly does sound exciting but I’m sure you’ve left out the bits about hard work and sacrifice that goes along with the adventure.
Thank you to you and others for sharing the worship music, it is a major motivation and inspiration for studying classical guitar.
Awesome podcast, Roger, Matt, and Simon! Thank you for sharing your story, Matt! What a great adventure – it’s wonderful to have you as part of he academy. Congratulations on your G5 and happy 50th!!
It’s a pleasure to listen to your podcast, Matt. DC Corner was such an awesome place to connect and I enjoyed so much watching you perform during the zoom sessions! You’ve grown so much as a guitarist. You G5 was so well delivered. All the best to you on your continuing musical growth!
Roger,
Loved the cat Easter Egg. I was totally looking to hear Simon’s in-laws clocks bedlam to bookend your morning’s coffee let’s-just-pour-it-all-out-there moment! Give a few pats on the head to your furry friends for me!
As ever, looking forward to the next CGCA chat.
Thank you Simon, Matt, and Roger!
Simon – It’s great to have you back in the US!
Matt – when you finished listing all the places that you’ve studied and worked, I was sure you were as old as Methusela! All those accomplishments and you’re not even 50 yet! (Early Happy Birthday wishes by the way!) I’ve been watching your steady progress ever since you first Zoomed in from Dominica! And yes, your G5 exam was beautiful!
Roger – I was sure too that we were going to hear those clocks at the end of the podcast!! Maybe next time?
It was wonderful learning about your journey. What an interesting life you have lead. Enjoy the remainder of your 40’s, ¡y Feliz cumpleaños, mi amigo!
Roger,
Learn how to make coffee, man. You don’t need a cup. Just put your open mouth below the drip. Save some dishes. Haha! Thanks for all the effort you put into these podcasts.
Matt – learning about your faith journey was as interesting as learning about your musical one. What a full life you’ve already lived! Wishing you all the best for a wonderful 50th birthday followed by many happy returns. And thank you Roger for another great podcast and for making me feel better about my Keurig mishaps – you are not alone!
Thacks for this your work Roger! it was impossible not to laugh listening to your coffee story and remembering how many times it has happened to me! I found a faster way to translate the podcast audio into Spanish in real time, so now I’ll be able to catch up. Thanks also to Matt for sharing his story, this podcast greatly enhances the sense of community.
Matt, I loved hearing about your early years, extensive education, spiritual quest, and guitar journey— nice. Also, a fun talk with Simon and the sound world of clocks!
