This lesson has suddenly got a lot harder! It’s as much learning to play in a higher position as sight reading. I find that I can’t sight read the chords at first sight. I can sight read the top notes of the chords, and keep in time. I can only play the chords if I pause the video and work on each chord – which is not sight reading. Am wondering that if the course is now beyond my capability ( to sight read at first sight) what is the value of continuing? Should I stop and work on easier materials, now that I understand the core concepts of sight reading? Your advice please!

I find the same situation. I decided to approach this by only playing the top note of the chords. Then I either try to sight read one chord (which may be repeated) or the top 2 notes of the chord. I repeat the exercise, which, as you point out, is no longer sight reading. Nevertheless, I find these are terrific exercises to learn notes on the upper frets. I believe that by persevering in this course, sight reading of chords will eventually come around.
