What the students are saying:

When I first saw the list of lessons in Level 2, I was expecting to see a lot of theory – you know, stuff on intervals, chord constructions etc.. But when I went ahead and opened Lesson 1, I knew right away that here was something to learn that I had sadly neglected all these years. It’s one thing to read about shifting and economy of movement in a book (Shearer) but quite a different experience to see it actually being done on screen.
Really good stuff!
I wish I had these lessons 40 years earlier. Still… never too late.

  • Thumb Strokes
  • Tone Production

  • Natural Harmonics

Structure

If you need more structured practice and development, this course will help you progress in a steady fashion. I know from my own experience that it can be daunting to learn with so many pieces and exercises floating around, and I believe that this course will keep you focused and on track.

The materials in this course are closely aligned with the Level 2 12 Progressive Pieces. So after learning the techniques, you will have a very specific set of repertoire in which to use the techniques. This way you stay focused, and you get to enjoy some great repertoire too.

Who is it for?

If you have just completed Level 1, or if you already have some classical guitar training under your belt, this course is for you. The materials cover core techniques, that will benefit your playing through all repertoire but as you can see from the list above it is not for the very beginner. If you have any questions about the course feel free to contact me, or read on…

Hello Simon,

I wanted to thank you for CGC. I think It’s the best CG teaching website on the net. Your ideas are so clear and concise…and very reassuring. I am so impressed by your artistry and technique, but at the same time, not at all intimidated…only inspired. You’re a wonderful teacher. I have introduced two of my students to you website and they’re hooked! Many thanks. – Gary

Downloads and exercises

The course has downloads and worksheets for each lesson. This means that you get to implement all of the skills that are taught in each lesson. The sheets offer material to follow along with the video so that you can see what I am referencing at any given point in time and there are several “exercises” where you need to fill out passages with fingering or mark in phrases. This kind of experience is invaluable when it comes to learning musicianship, and it is something that is often overlooked.

Value

There are seventeen lessons in total, each with a video lesson and a variety of worksheets. All together the course has over three hours of video, more than 20 worksheets, and represents months of structured work that you can use to progress your playing.

The price of the course is less that two private lessons with an instructor, and I believe that this course will be useful for months of learning. It will allow you to revisit important points, and learn on a schedule that suits you.

How it works

After registering for the course, you will be sent a login/password and you will be a member of Classical Guitar Corner. You can log in at anytime using the membership login form on the sidebar. From Lesson 1, I saw right away a problem I needed to solve. How to play the G to C bass glissando in the third bar of Tarrega’s Mazurka in G without string noise. Quite difficult really.

You said you wished you had these lessons 20 years earlier.

I wish I had these lessons 40 years earlier. Still… never too late.

The course costs $147 (which is around the cost of two private lessons). You can pay through our secure payment gateway with your credit card or Paypal.
