So glad that the Allemande showed back up in your fingers! That gives us all hope for keeping these tough pieces in our repertoire! The discussion with Dave was just wonderful. I continue to be amazed with how much the faculty truly cares about each member’s success. Great interview with Matt. I can relate to the transition from steel fingerstyle to classical! Thanks again for another fun podcast with many LOL moments!
Another fun masterpiece from Mr Interview! These podcasts are wonderful in so many ways. I love the way Roger gently and with humour draws out all the interesting bits of a musical life from his subjects. It’s a real skill you have, Roger and I tips me hat to you. Matt’s a great guy and I really enjoyed the chat.
I agree, Donna, about the caring CGC staff have for we struggling musicians. I’d add to that the caring shown by the community, epitomised here by the work Roger has put in to introduce us to each other in greater depth.
It was so great to hear your stories!! The youngest of the six boys, wow. Your approach to the CGC grade exams and what Dave said in the episode matched so well. I also want to listen to your duet with Roger.
Roger and Dave,
I appreciated your discussions about grade materials. It reminded me of the CGC Show 2020 finale. That session with four teachers was also fantastic.
It’s like taking a walk with friends, Roger . . . your talk with Matt and chat with Dave. Excellent. Your remarks about the Allemande made me smile and say “OMG, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since those Allemander days!” The experience you describe so well — pulling a piece back into memory — is an experience I have quite a bit recently. Catch you on the next walk!
Enjoyed your interview with Matt. little bit disappointed there weren’t more Australian animal noises, how about the Tasmanian devil! Maybe you could surprise Simon on your next quick chat. Matt, hope you might be able to make it to a Sydney summer school in Sydney in the future and you can catch up with some of the CGC family face to face.
I really enjoyed listening. Thanks Matt, Roger, and Dave! I recall Matt and Roger playing Der Spiegel with a swing rhythm, which I thought was great. Not sure about Mozart’s opinion. Matt it was great to hear about your guitar journey. I hope to someday come to the Sydney summer school to meet all my friends down under. Roger, I still have nightmares of Bach standing oveer me saying “I will Baroque you”. Haha! Thanks for launching the Allemanders and congrats on having it return quickly.
Thanks for the down to earth conversation Matt, I have enjoyed listening! The reflections on your family and the guitar are a pleasure to learn about. Roger and Dave, thanks as usual, another good conversation.
Thanks Roger, Dave and Matt for a great podcast!
Matt I enjoyed listening to your stories and I like your slow and steady approach to learning the grade five repertoire.
I am trying to use that same approach to grade four because grade five sounds quite intimidating! :)

Thanks Roger, for giving us a look into another member’s journey!
Matt, I love your thoughtful but laid back approach to your learning. It sounds like you are able to balance your playing with the rest of your life.
Dave, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. I’m looking forward to diving into the Tisserand workshops.
