Thank you, Roger for another wonderful podcast. Martha – it was wonderful to hear the programs that you have in the schools; as well as all your adventures with music and classical guitar! Thank you!
Another great podcast Roger; these keep getting better and better! Thank you Martha for giving the bet answer ever by saying, “I have the rest of my life.” If I’m being brutally honest with myself I put a lot of pressure on my own playing because I see so many other players advancing faster than me; and I feel I like I need to keep up pace. I keep forgetting that this is a lifelong journey and I need to enjoy the ride, even the times when I can’t get much done. Thank you!
I’m right there with you Michael. My apologies to my previous interviewees, but in 6 episodes this was the best thing I could have heard. “I have the rest of my life” Thank you Martha!
Big congrats to you, Martha, on your new adventure as President. I wish you years of success ahead of you. You have the thrilling opportunity to see the fruit of these programs.
May the programs yield countless heartwarming accounts of change in the hearts of the youth who are a part of them.
Hi Martha: I just caught your podcast with Roger while walking the dog this morning at the river. Great to hear in detail all that you are doing and have done. I especially liked the news of your guitar society and the observations about the guitars. Looking forward to seeing you again in the summer — and by the way, I am glad to hear you are going to present another trombone/guitar duet. I told you that your performance gave me the push to try something with the saxophone. I think my audience was a bit non-plussed, however. Well, some of them, at least. Anyway, onward!
And Roger, you have a very smooth delivery as a podcaster.
Thanks (again) Roger & Martha for a great and inspiring discussion!!
Your gear discussion reminded me that it would be quite fantastic to have a time at summer school where those of us with very special guitars (i’m not one) could demo them (or have them demo’d) for other members who may be in the market and aren’t sure what to look/listen for.
Take care,
Mark
Great Podcast! Thanks, Roger and Martha! Martha, I can’t imagine how you have time to just play your guitar, between your “day” job and volunteering as President of STL Classical Guitar (congrats by the way)!! That in itself is an inspiration!
I love the idea of having a guitar “petting zoo” at summer school to give us a chance to hear and compare different guitars. I have one guitar and it’s the only one I’ve ever owned. The idea of going into a shop and picking up a guitar to think about buying is terrifying to me!
I’m looking forward to seeing you and your husband again at summer school and hearing another great trombone/guitar duet!
Judy

Thank you, Roger, for including me as one of your interviews. It is an honor to be selected, and fun to be interviewed.

Roger, thanks for a great interview. Martha, you and your husband have a great musical life. I admire you for all you do for your community.
“Just enjoying time with an instrument in my hands” You said it right Martha.
