I’ve had them so long I really dont know which size – probably medium – I have a range of sizes and the smallest was too small for my a finger – however Indont have dainty finger ends – however they arent that expensive it might be worth buying a range to try out _ then you’ll have one if you break a different finger or thumb! I didnt men…[Read more]

This is a cross-post from my progress journal, so you may have read it before!
First – as I was gone for 2.5 weeks just as the heating was coming on in my apartment with RH dropping into the 30’s already I was super concerned that I’d come back to find several cracked guitars :( My apartment has no rooms (apart from a storage closet)…[Read more]
Thanks for the well-wishes Bruce, Scott, Linda Drew and Donna. I’m really enjoying getting back into guitar practice – there was a time when I thought my enthusiasm for it had faded, but in reality I think the considerable upheaval my life has gone through this year just derailed me for a while.
I have a couple of interesting updates to post…[Read more]
I haven’t been on the forum for a while, and today I happened upon your progress journal and have to say I really appreciate your posts (I think the self-deprecating humor is very common in the UK, where I was born and brung up)! Also your Lagrima is better than you said, of course. I am currently trying to rememorize it and those…[Read more]
I just got back to the US after an extremely stressful trip – not the worst thing was not playing my guitar. I now have sore finger ends! So yesterday and this morning I started working on the end of Andrew Yorks Home… still reading it and fumbling about looking for notes, but As a marker here is the last page in preliminary form. The gap in…[Read more]

So I’ve had to duck out of this one. I find myself in a place with dismal wifi and limited opportunities to practice. However will plan to get back to -it when I return to the US as its already part of a longer term project. Best of luck to everyone for a successful and speedy outcome!
Hi Roger. What struck me about your recordings was the similarity in the quality of the sound between the Ramirez and the Cordoba- which speaks to the other comment about people liking the sound of their own guitars! I did think the Chapman sounded much more resonant, particularly in the bass which was much the best brought out with that guitar…[Read more]

As I try to increase speed I am starting to have problems _ as Dave noticed in the synchronization. Usually its because my left hand is slow. So here I’m working slowly on making sure the left hand fingers move to the new position early
And the second thing is its starting to sound pretty messy so here I’m working on…[Read more]

Week 1 seems to have come only one day later due to my late start. Metronome up to 171 (why 171? No particular reason _ I was just too lazy to adjust the metronome to 160 yesterday!). In any case I found to increase speed I had to break things down a bit_ right hand only(that was tricky) and just fragments of the scale incorporating string…[Read more]
Wow! I just hunted through 5 pages to find my progress journal- which should clue you in that I have’t made much progress recently! So in the last several months I have
– moved to an apartment
– embarked upon my second semester of college music theory and musicianship
– reduced my daily practice to something in minutes rather than h…[Read more]
