    Roger, Heidi,

I thoroughly enjoyed the podcast. It filled in some of the blanks about the guitar scene in Lancaster that I did not know. I am also sending it to someone I know who has no interest in guitar, but who wanted to go on the Camino pilgrimage.

Roger, congratulations on finding a way to contain the energy that is Heidi. As has been noted your interviewing skills are growing week by week.

    Heidi,
    1. I told you so – (although if you look carefully you will occasionally find people talking about their guitars ;-)
    2. Never worry about calling me with questions, although I think at this point you have figured out all the good stuff
    3. YOU were going to organize an online salon over Halloween. If you want to try again over the Thanksgiving weekend let me know. I think Chris still has the paid Zoom membership. Didn’t you have someone (else) who wanted to do it?

Roger – you might need to edit some of this if you want to read it on the podcast, As usual, I have gone on too long ;-)

    Cheers,

    Richard

Great interview, Heidi and Roger. Heidi, your love for life and people is infectious! I came back from my river walk with my positivity battery fully charged. Thanks!

Thank you Bruce and thank you Richard!! The only salon I created got no response except from my dear friend Janie From Wisconsin so we just played for each other! It was fin! I have since been invited to a salon in Washington DC and I just got an email which I can’t figure out how to respond to you yet from a gentleman from Delaware their salon is tomorrow I believe. I have tragic news my duet partner and housemate Steve was in a terrible tripping accident yesterday coming out of a restaurant and he’s a very tall large man and he face planted breaking his nose breaking his left shoulder spraining his right shoulder!

    Roger,

What a wonderful interview with Heidi this week. So many great stories told and so much energy shared. Heidi’s love for, and commitment to, the communities in her life is a real inspiration. Loved her tales of her Camino pilgrimage, life in NYC in the 80’s, and her touching stories of Ernesto. I remember Richard Kordel speaking of his leadership within the Lancaster guitar community in a previous podcast, but Heidi provided real insight into his passion and impact on so many lives. Thank you.

Oh and Simon’s turn of a phrase for killing time as listeners log on to his YouTube session? Gasbagging!

    Cheers,
    Robert

Yes!!!!! That’s it gasbagging hahaha!! Thank you! And thank you for your kind words! I hope Roger sees this he couldn’t remember it either.

Thank you Roger and Heidi for a delightful interview. Heidi’s energy is a force to be reckoned with – and enjoyed! Listening I felt like the guy in that Hitachi Maxell (cassette) commercial where the guy was sitting in an easy chair with a floor lamp and martini next to him while his long hair and tie (and eventually the whole set) were blown back by the tremendous sound of the stereo speakers blasting in front of him. And Heidi, I couldn’t believe how much you sound like Janis Joplin! I just recently watched a public television documentary on her life and the resemblance is uncanny. Please tell me you can sing like her as well! The stories you shared were truly captivating and so inspiring. Your love of life, family and community reveal a generosity of spirit that is in far too short supply these days. We enjoyed having you attend our last DC Corner session and hope you’ll return and play for us in the future. And obtw, I absolutely loved your mic drop finish – “Peace, out!”

Haha thank you oh my goodness as a kid I would stand on my bed with my field hockey stick and sing 🎶 Ohhh Lord Won’t cha buy me a Mercedes Benz!!🎶hahaha of course I can sing like Janis Joplin in my mind ha ha! James Taylor was always a favorite sing-along but I also really Dug Santana my brother turned me onto him by telling me you’ve gotta hear this guy he’s like …it’s like…Spanish rock ‘n’ roll ha ha Did you ever hear of Nicolette Larson she came and went quietly but I loved her voice and then there was always the wonderful music of Janis Ian, Joan Baez, Maria Maudaur, Emmy Lou Harris, Aretha and later Linda Ronstadt, (Love Joni Mitchell but she was too high for me to sing I’m a Tenor) and I always felt apologetic for having a low voice until I went to my first Philadelphia folk festival back in the day when it was small and you could really get close to the artists and I went to a workshop with sweet honey on the rock and I was stunned!!! I had found the voice range that I fit into without apology. I am definitely not a singer but I love singing in our community chorus here in Lancaster PA now we can only meet by zoom and of course you know you can’t sing together on zoom but we work on our parts longing for the day we can all meet together again. But for singing along with the old is nothing beats singing along with the mamas and the Papas right? You can just wail the harmonies! Enough of my walking down memory lane here. Of course there are some other wonderful old singers I’m definitely forgetting like all the Mowtown label artists which I played and sang along with incessantly against my grandmother’s wishes. I would sing both sides of the 45s. Ha ha
    Peace to you this day,
Have a good day and happy practicing,
    Heidi Beth Wert

    Roger and Heidi,
Thanks for the great podcast! Roger, you are as good as ever, and if I did not know differently, I would have guessed that you are a professional podcaster or radio talk show host. I enjoy listening to get to know the other members. Heidi, I much appreciate your enthusiasm and genuineness. The Camino has been on my bucket list for some time. Maybe some day…
    Peace and all good.
    John
