I love this! And I total agree with Drew, as I grow into a classical guitarist my goal is shifting more towards sharing the music we play and transmitting that beauty. Thanks to both of you!
Nice job Roger and Drew. I really enjoyed hearing about the challenges you are working on Drew. I strongly suspect many of us havw the same issues!

Hi Roger, Thank you for your interview with Drew. It was lovely to hear his thoughts on such a variety to topics…on people and communication, sharing music with others, his appreciation of CGC…
This is a wonderful way for members learn more about each other!
What a great start to this series! Thanks, Drew, for sharing your thoughts. I love the image of you walking through Berkeley with your guitar on your back and a bottle of wine and a baguette in hand! That’s what it’s all about.
Thanks, Roger! (And Drew). Very enjoyable. I’m looking forward to listening to them all, as time goes on. It is helpful and encouraging to hear the journeys of others in the academy.
Thank you Roger and Drew, a great interview to start with. I can relate to the need for patience in the process of classical guitar learning and the mind wanting to do one thing but the body having its challenges😂
Hi Guys,
Just re-listened to your wonderful discussion, and particularly loved Drew’s reference to each person as a garden!
Sadly, I’ve got a lot of weeding to do.
Thanks,
Mark
Drew and Roger,
Thanks so much for starting this off. It’s sure to be a treasure at CGA.
I enjoy and get encouragement from my classmates’ insights, and Drew’s always seem to make the world bigger.
Best,

Hi Roger, Drew, Linda, and Mark. Great podcasts!! I had to extend the dog walk at the river to listen to them all. The dog got a good workout, and me too. Great idea, Roger. This makes the academy even more like a true academy. When you add this to the mix of fantastic lessons, annual summer camp, meet ups, ongoing videos and online office hours/seminars, forums, advice, etc. — wow! Simon has a real music school here. I didn’t think I’d go back to school again (although I do love school!), but I guess I did. Thanks for doing this, Roger.
Thank you Roger, Linda, and Mark for wonderful podcasts and Everyone for your kind comments!
I have learned much. As Bruce suggests we have a real school experience. Yes Mark, weeding is one of my tasks too! I look forward to more podcasts as it is meaningful to hear the members perspective. I agree that Roger is a natural!
These podcasts are a terrific idea. Got caught up on the first three yesterday and was impressed with the quality of the interviews and the overall presentation. Big thanks to Roger for taking on this project.
I really enjoyed Drew’s interview and hearing more of his thoughts and his story.
Great job Roger, and Drew, thanks for sharing your guitar and personal thoughts! I like your feeling that music is to be shared and enjoyed in a relaxed way with others.
This is so cool, Roger. Thanks so much for sharing your talents and starting the podcast. Drew I really enjoyed your comments, esp. regarding care of the physical body. This last year I took up Yoga. In one of my first classes, the teacher said, “Do you play the guitar?” I was shocked. We were in the standing mountain pose with hands down at the side. My left hand was facing front, my right hand was facing my thigh, and my left shoulder was raised up. I ended up taking some private lessons with her and she taught me how to keep my shoulders down and my body more balanced. I also got the Sageworks guitar support. In addition, I pay attention to the time on guitar and take breaks more frequently. Awareness of my body position while playing has increased by leaps and bounds, and I’m feeling much better physically when I play guitar.
What a great interview. So much time is spent practicing on our own. With all it offers this site really reinforces a sense that we are not striving on our own.
I really enjoyed the interview. Thank you. As a beginner hearing the advice to slow down and not rush through the early grades was very timely. It’s great to get the advice to be patient.
Aloha Roger,
Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoyed your interview with Drew. it’s like talking to your best friend. Love the personal anecdotes and challenges we run up against as we study classical guitar. Read all the comments and it validates I’m not alone at CGC. I value our members’ life experiences and as I get to know them through your podcast I feel that learning to play is not just about the units and exercises, but the people behind those guitars. It gives me a real sense of joy knowing there is this huge and empathetic support network out there. Looking forward to meeting fellow members in person, for now this podcast serves as a portal for me to initiate awesome friendships. Thank you Roger.
