What information we collect
We collect two kinds of information.
Information you give us. When you join the Academy, buy a book, sign up for our mailing list, or contact us, we collect details such as your name, email address, billing address, and the payment information needed to process your order. If you take part in the community, your profile details, forum posts, progress journals, and any content you share are also stored. We keep a record of your correspondence with us and of any surveys you choose to answer.
Information we collect automatically. When you browse our sites, we automatically receive your device’s IP address, along with information about your browser and operating system, to help us understand how the sites are used. We also use cookies and similar technologies, described below.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and run the Academy and our courses, to process payments and deliver what you have purchased, to give you access to your account and the community, to provide support, and to keep our sites secure. With your permission, we also use it to send you emails about lessons, new resources, and updates. We use aggregated, non-identifying usage data to improve our content and the way our sites work.
Email and your consent
When you provide personal information to complete a purchase or set up your account, we take it that you consent to our collecting and using it for that specific purpose. If we want to use your information for a separate reason, such as marketing, we will ask for your consent or give you a clear way to decline.
Our email is sent through ActiveCampaign. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. If you change your mind after opting in, you can withdraw your consent to further contact, or to the continued collection, use, or disclosure of your information, by contacting us at support@classicalguitarcorner.com.
The services we share information with
We share personal information with trusted service providers only to the extent they need it to perform their service for us. Each has its own privacy policy. These currently include:
- Payments: Stripe and PayPal process Academy payments, and Shopify processes payments in our publishing store. We do not store your full card details on our own servers; they are handled by these processors under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).
- Membership: MemberPress manages Academy accounts, subscriptions, and access.
- Email and CRM: ActiveCampaign manages our mailing list and email.
- Hosting: WP Engine and Liquid Web host our websites, and Shopify hosts our publishing store, storing your data on secure servers.
- Analytics: Google Analytics helps us understand how our sites are used.
Some of these providers, particularly payment processors, may be located in a different country than you, and your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdictions in which they operate. We may also disclose your information if required to do so by law, or if you breach our Terms of Service.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how our sites are used.
