Helen – it was great to hear your story (or maybe I should say stories!). What a unique start to your guitar journey! And you’ve made so much progress! Very inspiring!
Roger, thanks for the marathon edition of the podcast – it took me a couple of listening sessions, but I’ve listened to it all now. I’m liking the little bonus features on the ends of the episodes :)
Niki – lovely composition, and I’m looking forward to what you have planned for guitoberfest.
Helen – so great to hear your story, I love the idea of you starting the guitar accidentally. So good to hear about your journey playing, and I really hope to join you at the summer school in Cumrae one year.
Judy, Craig – thank you so much for listening! It was a real pleasure and honour to be asked to do this – huge thanks to Roger. I didn’t realise at the start that I’d have so much to say! And Craig, I too hope that we get to meet at the summer school in Cumbrae some time. It’s such an inspiring experience.
Thanks for another fantastic podcast Roger! There are so many exciting things on the horizon for CGC!
It was so fun to listen to you Niki! I love your passion and excitement for the classical guitar and for our academy, you add so much! Your etude is beautiful!
Helen, I so enjoyed hearing all your stories, you have a wonderful sense of humor!
Roger, thank you for a jam packed wonderful Podcast. I got a lot of dishes done and enjoyed all the good vibes. We are all so grateful for the force of good that CGC brings to the world. Wonderful to hear Simon and Niki and Niki’s Etude at the end is molto lovely! Helen, @mollie, I could listen to you(and Roger) for hours! How good to hear what you do and what a line up of institutions in the states, I really hope you get to visit them someday. The way you came to the guitar is wonderful, and from the get go you have been lured by “shiny objects” of music…..just wonderful. Your adventurous tackling of extracurricular pieces(Paganini, etc) is much appreciated, as is your activity in the forums. Looking forward to Carcassi 7 and whatever else you get up to.
It was really great hearing your very interesting story and learning about your musical journey. That’s cool you attended David Russell’s summer school. I thought CGC was the only one! Haha. I hope to meet you at the CGC summer school someday.
Roger, another great one! Man, that one was long. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, right?
Niki, it was great to hear your voice, and I’m looking forward to you master class on those Legnani Capprichi. Great composition at the end of the podcast.
@sjbrandenberg Scott – thanks so much for listening! Yes, CGC summer school is a long-term top goal for me! By the way, just to set the record straight, it’s Matthew Mcallister’s summer school, not David Russell’s, although David has been on the guest faculty twice, I think, since it began.
ShannonAnn, Joseph – so glad you enjoyed it. Roger makes it so easy. . .
Hello everyone! Helen I join the crowd and say how much I aprreciated listening to your story, it’s a pleasure to get to know the members a little bit more. Your story is absolutely interesting and creative, it’s lovely to hear you chatting with Roger and bring us into your stories and adventure, how special!
I apologize with everyone for getting excited and talking forever, next time, I swear, I will put the timer! But indeed Roger makes it so easy and comfortable, so it is just a pleasure to talk with him!
Stay tuned and save the dates for the Guitoberfest!
Thanks for clarifying this! I’m sure Matthew McAllister does a wonderful summer school. I was just listening last night to his performance of Niel Gow’s Lament for his 2nd Wife. Excellent stuff.
I was playing catch-up with these but realised I was missing all the golden nuggets Simon, Dave & Niki hand out, so it pays to stay current.
Helen, to my northern ears you sound really posh, but you have such a beautiful voice I could listen to you talk all day. Interesting to hear you’re a summer school junkie. With never having attended one, I don’t see the appeal. I enjoyed your story very much and I’m jealous thinking of you spending your time sitting by the coast, playing guitar, and doing your colouring in. What a life!

@fabricatidiem John, to my southern ears I sound really posh, too. I can’t ever quite believe the strains of Princess Anne that seem to have crept unawares into my speech patterns. Hey ho!
I really enjoy hearing about peoples lives as well as their guitar journey. This was like two people just ‘shooting the breeze’ at the bar. Good for the soul and very enjoyable. Well done Helen and Roger!
Air quality has improved in CA (for now), so I was able to get back to taking long walks and catching up on podcasts and audio books. Delightful, Helen and Roger. Great interview with Nikki too. Lovely etude! Helen’s enthusiasm is catching!
Hello, it has been delightful listening and learnIng about Helen’s experience. Thank you both for the engaging guitar conversation. I also enjoyed Helen’s graphic design recollections with notes about the Apple Mac.
Niki—please keep talking! Your vivacious communication is a treasure. The Etude is wonderful.
Wow! That was an action-packed podcast, Roger!
Helen – it was great to hear your story (or maybe I should say stories!). What a unique start to your guitar journey! And you’ve made so much progress! Very inspiring!
Nikki – the Etude is fabulous!!
I can’t wait for Guitoberfest!!
